چکیده

The present paper simplifies the naturally formed dunes (riverbeds) as large-scale three-dimensional staggered wavy walls to investigate features of accompanying secondary flows and streamwise vortices via large-eddy simulation. A comparison between swirling strength mean velocities suggests where a flow induces upwash or downwash motions. Moreover, we propose pseudo-convex wall mechanism interpret directionality flow. centrifugal instability criterion is then used reveal generation vortices. Based on these analytical results, found that are generated in separation reattachment points both characteristic longitudinal–vertical horizontal cross-sections, which related curvature effect turbulent shear layer. Furthermore, maximum Görtler number characterized by ratio viscous effects that, for fixed spanwise- streamwise-wavelength cases, strongest occurring cross-section gradually dominates with increases amplitude. similar trend cases varied spanwise wavelength can also be found. It more readily transverse around crest near when equals 1.

Development of Pre-set Counter-rotating Streamwise Vortices in Wavy Channel

Development of counter-rotating streamwise vortices in a rectangular channel with onesided wavy surface has been experimentally quantified using hot-wire anemometry. The wavy surface has fixed amplitude of 3.75 mm. The counter-rotating vortices are pre-set by means of a sawtooth pattern cut at the leading edge of the wavy surface. Variations of the central streamwise velocity Uc with a channel ...

Three-dimensional velocity field for wavy Taylor–Couette flow

The stability of wavy supercritical cylindrical Couette flow has been studied extensively, but few measurements of the velocity field in flow have been made. Particle image velocimetry was used to measure the azimuthal and radial velocities in latitudinal planes perpendicular to the axis of rotation for wavy cylindrical Couette flow in the annulus between a rotating inner cylinder and a fixed o...

A streamwise constant model of turbulence in plane Couette flow

Streamwise and quasi-streamwise elongated structures have been shown to play a significant role in turbulent shear flows. We model the mean behaviour of fully turbulent plane Couette flow using a streamwise constant projection of the Navier– Stokes equations. This results in a two-dimensional three-velocity-component (2D/3C) model. We first use a steady-state version of the model to demonstrate...

Stationary vortices in three - dimensional

An existence theorem for localised stationary vortex solutions in an external shear ow is proved for three-dimensional quasigeostrophic ow in an unbounded domain. The external ow is a linear shear ow whose strength varies linearly with height. The ow conserves an in nite family of Casimir integrals. Flows that have the same value of all Casimir integrals are called isovortical ows, and the pote...

Experimental study and numerical simulation of three dimensional two phase impinging jet flow using anisotropic turbulence model

Hydrodynamic of a turbulent impinging jet on a flat plate has been studied experimentally and numerically. Experiments were conducted for the Reynolds number range of 72000 to 102000 and a fixed jet-to-plate dimensionless distance of H/d=3.5. Based on the experimental setup, a multi-phase numerical model was simulated to predict flow properties of impinging jets using two turbulent models. Mesh...
